~ US 34 from Fort Morgan to the Nebraska State line follows the C.B. & Q (now Burlington - Santa Fe) RR that opened this part of the state to settlers.
~In June, July, and August, day time highs range from 85-100. Low
humidity and afternoon thunderstorms (occasionally violent) are possible.
Night time lows will be 60-75.
~ The best food will be found where the locals eat in Akron and Otis.
Wherever the parking lots are full, that's where the best food will be
found. There are no chain
restaurants anywhere in Washington County.
~ US 34 west of Akron tends to be narrow. Road space is limited.
US 34 has a breakdown lane that is suitable for bikes.
